Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to support responsible investors who align with the state’s development vision, saying Delta remains open for sustainable and transformative investment.
Oborevwori gave the assurance on Tuesday during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Cubana Millennium City in Okpaman, Oshimili North Local Government Area. The governor, represented by his deputy, Monday Onyeme, described the project as one that “speaks to both the present and the future of Delta State.”
“This proves something we already know: Delta State is open for business, open for investment, and ready for sustainable growth,” he said.
He added that the administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda remains the guiding framework for all government-backed initiatives, stressing that the Cubana Millennium City aligns fully with its pillars.
“We are not just turning the soil. We are turning a new page in the story of Delta’s development. This partnership with the Cubana Group is a model for how government and the private sector can collaborate to deliver progress that is tangible and sustainable,” Oborevwori said.
He assured that the state would continue supporting investors committed to prosperity and improving the lives of Delta residents.
A New Economic Ecosystem for Delta
The governor described the project’s commencement as “the birth of a new economic ecosystem,” forecasting its impact as a catalyst for job creation, investment inflows, and modern urban living.
Earlier, Chairman of the Cubana Group, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu (popularly known as Obi Cubana), said the Millennium City project would evolve into a world-class community and become a strategic destination that redefines lifestyle, entertainment, hospitality, and investment opportunities in the South and East.
Iyiegbu said the group aims to build “a modern ecosystem where people can live, work, relax, and thrive without leaving the environment.”
He said the city will feature smart homes, integrated commercial zones, green areas, entertainment clusters, and secure, modern infrastructure tailored to the aspirations of young Nigerians.
“The project represents vision, commitment, and possibilities… It will engage hundreds of workers during construction and thousands more upon completion. It will attract local and international attention, raising the profile of Asaba as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing urban centres,” he added.
The Cubana Millennium City is expected to boost real estate, hospitality, and economic activities in Delta State, reinforcing the state’s ambition to attract sustainable private-sector–led development.
