Kebbi CP Tightens Security at NYSC Orientation Camp, Warns Officers Against Complacency

The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Bello M. Sani, has reinforced security measures at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Basaura, Jega Local Government Area, describing the move as a proactive step to ensure the safety of corps members.

Sani, who led a high-level management team to the camp on Monday, charged security personnel to maintain heightened vigilance throughout the orientation exercise. During an operational briefing, he cautioned officers against laxity and urged them to remain alert and mobile.

“You must remain vigilant at all times. Do not cluster in one place move around, observe your surroundings, and work as a team,” he directed.

The commissioner emphasised the importance of inter-agency cooperation, noting that synergy among security units was essential to guaranteeing a peaceful and secure environment for the corps members.

“Show commitment, support one another, and strengthen your cooperation with other security agencies and camp officials. This is how we guarantee a safe environment for our corps members,” he added.

As part of the visit, Sani convened a closed-door meeting to review and enhance the existing security architecture at the orientation camp. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including the Kebbi State Commissioner for Internal Security, Alhaji Haliru Wasagu; the Security Adviser to the Governor, Col. Hassan Ribah (retd.); the NYSC State Coordinator, Alhaji Bala Kagarko; Commanding Officer of 36 PMF Birnin Kebbi, ACP Aliyu Jega; and the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations), ACP Auwal Yakubu.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi, discussions focused on strengthening safety mechanisms, boosting early warning systems, and improving rapid response strategies to enhance the camp’s overall resilience.

The visit highlights the police command’s renewed commitment to corps members’ safety as thousands begin their national service in Kebbi State.
