The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 15-year-old boy, identified as Abubakar Aliyu of Tudun Wada Shamaki Quarters, for allegedly carrying out a series of armed robberies and thefts in the Federal Low-Cost area of Gombe metropolis.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the suspect was apprehended following a swift investigation launched after a robbery was reported on October 15, 2025.
Abdullahi said the teenage suspect was arrested with several stolen items, including an iPhone 13 Pro Max, an Apple MacBook laptop, an Apple Watch, an Oraimo Power Bank, and a pink school bag.
“On October 15, 2025, at about 11:00 a.m., a female resident of Federal Low-Cost, Gombe, reported that she was attacked by an unknown person armed with a knife who robbed her of her personal belongings,” Abdullahi stated. “Operatives from the Divisional Police Headquarters immediately swung into action, leading to the arrest of the suspect and recovery of all the stolen items.”
The police spokesperson added that Aliyu voluntarily confessed to the crime and further admitted to participating in another robbery earlier in the month in collaboration with an accomplice identified as Hadi, who is currently at large.
During the second burglary, the suspects allegedly stole items including a Samsung Fold 3 smartphone, a Black View Tab 80, two rings, and a car key. The police said some of the stolen property, including the phone and tablet, had been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, commended the officers for their swift response, describing the arrest as a significant breakthrough in the fight against violent crime in the state.
“The command will continue to intensify efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property across Gombe,” Yahaya said. “We urge members of the public to support the police by providing timely and useful information that can aid in crime prevention and detection.”
He also advised residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons or movements to the nearest police station.
