Olanrewaju George, the Executive Director of the Olanrewaju Omo George Foundation, has officially announced his intention to contest the upcoming House of Representatives by-election for the Remo Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
George made his declaration on Monday during a meeting with APC leaders at Ward 4 in Sagamu, Ogun State. In a statement he signed, George expressed his commitment to driving youth empowerment, infrastructural development, and providing quality representation to the people of Remo Federal Constituency.
“After wide consultations, I am stepping forward to serve and bring meaningful change to Remo Federal Constituency. Now is the time to harness the power of our youthful population and create a better future for them. This is why I am contesting the Remo Federal Constituency seat; to bring quality representation to our people. You deserve that,” George stated.
The seat became vacant following the passing of Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga, the former representative of the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, who died on January 15, 2025, after a brief illness. Onanuga had served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives at the time of her death.
George, who previously contested the same seat in the 2023 elections against Onanuga, is now positioning himself as a candidate for the by-election, pledging to bring fresh perspectives and leadership to the constituency.
